Both the Eagles and Ravels won their opening games, but while the Ravens easily won the Eagles barely beat the weak Browns. In the off-season Joe Flacco proclaimed he was the best QB in the NFL and after his first game he may not be that far off. Now he will face a solid defense of the Eagles in Philly, which will be a big test. The Eagles did win their season opener, but Michael Vick was picked off 4 times and if that happens again they will have no chance at a W.
In their season openers the Ravels looked great on both sides of the ball in an easy 44-13 win over the Cincinnati Bengals and the Eagles beat the Cleveland Browns 17-16.
In the first game the Ravens covered the spread with the total going Over and the Eagles failed to cover with the total going Under.
Vick did pass for 317 yards against the Browns and WR’s Jeremy Maclin and DeSean Jackson both made some big plays, but Vick was intercepted 4 times. The Ravens played good pass defense in their win over Cincy with S Ed Reed taking back the INT for a TD. The Eagles’ offense line must play well and even though the ravens were without Defensive Player of the Year Terrell Suggs Baltimore did have 4 sacks.
LeSean McCoy had a solid game against Cleveland rushing for 110 yards averaging a solid 5.5 yards per carry and while the Ravens have a solid run defense they did give up over 100 yards on the ground to Cincinnati.
Flacco was 21/29 for 299 yards with 2 TD and 0 INT in the season opener and TE Dennis Pitta and WR Anquan Boldin each averaged over 14 yards per catch. The Eagles and their talented secondary shut down the Browns passing attack, but that is not say much since it is Cleveland and they started rookie Brandon Weeden.
Ray Rice only had 10 carries in the Cincy game, but he averaged 6.8 yards per carry and had 2 TD. The Eagles played great run D holding the Browns to only 99 yards, but they only had to stop rookie Trent Richardson, which they did, but Rice is a different beast.
